The 6th Calgary International Chess Classic is scheduled to take place on 14-20th May at the Best Western Village Park Inn, 1804 Crowchild Trail NW, Calgary, Canada.

The tournament provides an excellent opportunity for players seeking GM and IM norms. The playing format will be 9-round Swiss, CFC/FIDE rated, and draw offers are not allowed before move 30.

The tournament is shaping up to be the strongest in its history. The organizers have secured the participation of Philippines’ superstar Wesley So, who is the first ever 2700+ player to play in Calgary, GM Robin Van Kampen from the Netherlands, GM Eugene Perelshteyn of the USA, GM Victor Mikhalevski of Israel and Calgary’s own GM Eric Hansen.

The Reserve section will take place along side the main event. Amateur players will have the chance to play their own challenging games and watch the masters in the same tournament hall. Simuls and lectures are also planned. The top boards of the International section will also be broadcast live to a chess hungry audience around the world.
