The Korinthia Chess Academy “Argonaftis” is organizing the 5th International Tournament Isthmia 2015 on 18-25th August at the Poseidon Resort Hotel in Loutraki, Korinthia, Greece.
Prefecture of Peloponnisos, Municipality of Loutraki – Perahora – Agioi Theodoroi, Municipality of Korinth are supporting the event.
The tournament will be held over 9 rounds of Swiss system in three groups: Open A for players rated over 2000 FIDE, Open B for U1900 players and Open C for unrated players. Players rated 1900 – 2000 may select in which group they will participate. The organizers reserve the right to merge the three groups, depending on the number of participants.
Last year winner of Open A was GM Evgeny Postny from Israel.
Cups will be awarded to the top three winners of Group A, Group B and Group C of the general standings and the first female winner of each Group. Medals will be awarded to the top 6 winners of the Group A, top 3 winners of the other Groups and to the winners of special categories.
The total prize fund is 4600 EUR. Top prizes in Open A are EUR 2000, 1000, 500, 250, 150, 100 etc.
There will also be side events: rated blitz tournament, simultaneous exhibition and excursion to archaeological sites of Ancient Greece.
