The 56th International Chess Festival of Imperia will be held from 31st August to 7th September at the Palazzetto dello Sport, Località San Lazzaro, in Imperia, Italy.

One of the longest running open events will consist of four sections: Group A (9 round Swiss for players rated over 1950), Group B (8 round Swiss, U2000), Group C (8 round Swiss, U1650) and Youth (U16 years).

Top prizes in Group A are € 700 / € 500 / € 400 / € 300. Currently top seeded player is last year winner GM Milos Jirovsky from Czech Republic.

Imperia is well known for the cultivation of flowers and olives, and is a popular summer destination for visitors.
