Qc5
Qc5
1.Qxc5+! Qxc5 2.Bxa6 mate!
Kamalakanta
1. Bxa6+ Qxa6 2. Qxc5+ Bc6 3. Qxb4 Qa7/a8 4. dxc6 etc. 1-0
1. Q:c4+
A. 1….Q:c4 2. B:a6#
B. 1….Kb7 2. Qc7+ Ka8 3. Q:d8+ and wins
1.Qe5 g5. 2. Bxa6 + Qxa6(forced) 3. Qc7 1-0
1. Qe5 g5 2.Bxa6 + Qxa6 3. Qc7 ++
Well, 5 seconds is ok for getting the main idea to win material but takes much longer to fully extract. Value from situation!
1.Qxc5+!!
A-1….Qxc5.2.Bxa6#!
B-1…..Qc7.2.Qxc7#!
C-1…..Bc6.2.Qxa7 wins Q for free!
D-1…..Kb7.2.Qc7+.Ka8.3.Qxd8+. And White is a R up!
My first thought was 1.Bxa6+ So I lost time barrier. But it proved I can think ahead of time in a wrong way as it is 2.Nxg6# which is correct after 1.Qxc5+ Qxc5.
Bxa6+ looks good to me.
Qxp win
1. Qc5+ Qc5
2. Ba6++
Qxc5+ Black can’t capture QxQc5 else Bxa6#
Qxc5+ Kb7
Qc7+ Ka8
QxRd8+ Kb7
Qc7+ Ka8
QxQa7+ KxQa7
White is up R and pawn
In the morning I missed the longer line.
1.Qxc5+ Kb7
(1…. Qxc5 2.Bxa6#)
2.Qc7+ Ka8
3.Qxd8+ Kb7
4.Nb5 and now
(a)4…. axb5 5.a6+ Qxa6 6.Qb8#
(b)4…. Qc5 5.Qb8#
(c)4…. Bxb5 5.Qc7+ Ka8 6.Qc8+ Qb8 7.Qxb8#
My first comment was ridiculous. I meant 2.Bxa6+ instead of 2.Nxg6+
A couple readers suggested 1. Bxa6 but I think it’s the wrong move order.
1. Bxa6 Qxa6
2. Qxc5 Bc6
3. Qxb4 … One reader’s suggestion. It threatens mate at b8 but
3. … e5 Stops mate momentarily, blocking the Bishop’s diagonal while simultaneously attacking the Bishop AND uncovering the attack on the Queen. Maybe there’s some resource here for White but 1. Qxc5 is such a clear win for White that I’d have to conclude it’s the superior move.
