Go Stefansson!
A little late on the Go! but congrats all around, but especially to Thomas Roussel-Roozman for his GM norm!
do you know anything about chess? that patzer was not even CLOSE to a GM norm.
Roussel-Roozman wasn’t too close to a GM norm, although he did perform a bit higher than his rating.
If 6.5/9 and a share of second place in an international tournament isn’t good enough for a GM norm, then what is?? Roussel-Roozman had a rating performance of 2536. Isn’t that enough for a norm?
GM norm is 2600+ performance and at least 3 GM opponents with some other factors as well. Roozmon performed closer to his rating then a GM norm and also failed to play the minimum GM total(3). FIDE is smart to have these requirements as he would be quite undeserving to get a GM norm by scoring a swiss gambit with his performance here.
Also, he did not tie for second. Roussel tied for 5th place but in reality had weaker tiebreaks then several others tied with him, thus he was even lower than 5th.
I stand corrected, thanks. And for what it’s worth, Anonymous @ 6:36 PM, there’s no need to insult people. A simple explanation would suffice.
