Four clubs locked in lead for Asian League

Al Ain: Four clubs emerged as joint leaders of the Asian Chess Champions League after the third day with six points each, while Club India achieved a surprise defeat of second-seeded club Fajr Shams of Iran 3-1.

Al Ain A team, Club India, Qi Yuan, from China and Tagaytay of the Philippines, are the joint leaders.

Al Ain A defeated Chirchik Club, from Uzbekistan, 3-1 with GM Sergey Karjakin beating GM Dzhumaev Marat, GM Baadur Jobava beating GM Iuldachev Saidali and GM Li Chao defeating IM Sergey Kayumov, while GM Gabriel Sargissian lost to GM Safin Shukhrat.

IM Laxman R. R led Club India to a surprising victory over Fjar Shams as he defeated GM Kobalia Mikhail and IM Kathikeyan P. defeated GM Petrosian Tigran.

IM Sengupta Deep drew with GM Ghaem Maghami Ehsan and the same result was achieved by IM Prathamesh Sunil Mokal with GM Pashikian Arman.

Chinese club Qi Yuan defeated Vietnam Victory CC 3-1 while Tagaytay from Philippines trounced Tajikistan CC 4-0.

Al Ain B team increased their tally to four points after beating Yemen CC 3-1 and Sharjah CC also reached the same tally by defeating Bahrain CC with the same margin.

In round four, the leaders and Al Ain A team will face Tagaytay.
