GM Shabalov, IM Sevillano, and IM Milovanovic (coach of UTD) tied for 1st at the 2008 US Open in Dallas. All three scored 8-1 and all three won their last round with the Black pieces. IM Root made a remarkable comeback after not having played chess for around 10 years. He finished with 7.5 points.
