The 1st International Tournament “Colossus Chess Cup of Rhodes 2015″ is scheduled to take place from September 1-9, at the luxurious Amathus Hotel & SPA*****, in Rhodes, Greece.
The event is organized by Organizing Committee of Rhodes Chess Club “Knight”, in collaboration with Decentralized Administration of South Aegean Region and Municipality of Rhodes in a 9-round Swiss FIDE format.

The festival is split into two main tournaments:
– Open A – for players with FIDE rating over 1700
– Open B – for players with FIDE rating below 1800 or without any FIDE rating at all
Those players with Elo 1700 – 1800 can choose in which group to play. The organizer reserves the right to merge the two groups, depending on the number of participants.
Each player will have the right to take time off (skip a match and win ½ points)twice during the tournament and before the 7th round. The decision to take time off should be stated to the chief arbiter before the start of the next round. After the 7th round there is no time off.
Cash prizes in Open A: 2,500 €/ 1,000 €/ 500 € + Female prizes: 400 €/ 200 €/ 100 € + Best player < 2100: 500 €
Cash prizes in Open B: 500 €/ 300 €/ 100 € + Best female: 100 €
There will be additional non-cash prizes that will be announced during the period of the games.
In addition, there will be two morning excursions to archaeological sites and attractions (old town – Knights Castle). These will be posted with additional notice.
