18th Graz International Open – R6

The 18th Graz International Open is taking place from 27th August to 4th September in Graz, Austria. The organizer is Landesverband Steiermark des Österreichischen Schachbundes and the playing venue is Brauhaus Puntigam.

The tournament will be played over 9 rounds of Swiss pairings and in two rating groups.

The Group A has 63 players and six Grandmasters in the field. Top seeded is Vyacheslav Ikonnikov (2553) from Russia. Group B has 52 participants.

After six rounds of play Grandmasters David Shengelia (AUT 2513) and Ivan Farago (HUN 2485) are leading the standings with 5.5 points each. Third is GM Zdenko Kozul (CRO 2541), who defeated the top rated Ikonnikov with Black pieces.
