The 13th ASEAN+ Age Group Chess Championships
will be held in Hue city, Vietnam from 10th to 19th June 2012.

Located in the center of Vietnam, Hue city is well known for its historic monuments, which have earned it a place in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

Participants may compete in the U-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 Age-Groups for Girls and Open. In addition, Seniors (aged 50 and above) will be held.

The ASEAN+ Age Group Championships have grown in popularity and shall accept direct individual registrations as well as those from countries and territories around Asia.

Eligibility & Participation:

Each country may register any number of players to participate in the U-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 Age-Groups for Girls and Open and Seniors aged 50 or above.

Individuals may also register directly. The players who are entitled to participate should not have reached their relevant age as on 1st January 2012.

Pairing:

In the last 2 rounds, where possible, players from the same country and who have more than 50% shall not be paired together.

Time Control:

Standard Chess – Each player shall have 90 minutes to complete the game.
Rapid Chess – Each player shall have 25 minutes to complete the game.
Blitz Chess – Each player shall have 5 minutes to complete the game.

For the Standard Chess events, FM/WFM titles are awarded to the winners (regardless of ASEAN or non-ASEAN players) of the youth categories. In case of tie, after tie-break, only the top three will be awarded. CM/WCM titles are awarded, after tie-break, to silver and bronze medal winners – not more than one title will be awarded for each (2nd/3rd) position.

The IM/WIM titles are awarded for the ASEAN U20 category.

Tie-Break:

Swiss-System: Buchholz, followed by Sonneborn-Berger; Number of Wins with the Black pieces.
Round-Robin: Sonneborn-Berger; Direct Encounter; Number of Wins with the Black pieces.

Located in the center of Vietnam. Hue’s international “Phu Bai” airport fields daily flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Hanoi (HAN). It takes 13km from Phu Bai airport (Hue) to Hue city.

Or you can get in Hue by flight to Danang international airport (DAD). Then from Danang City to Hue city by land transport in less than 2 hours. Registered participants will be taken to Hue from the Danang airport by Organising committee.

The registration fee includes airport transfers. Details of Flight Arrival must be provided before 1st June 2012 otherwise no transfers will be arranged.
