WORLD’S NUMBER 1 DEFEATED BY 10 YR OLD BOY
23:10 30 MAR 2011
(AGI) Moscow – The current world champion of chess, the Indian grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand, was defeated by two young Uzbek players during a simultaneous exhibition in Tashkent.
The meeting was spread over 20 tables and finished with a score of 15-5 in favor of Anand. But the two talented young Uzbeks managed to prevail against the 41 year-old Indian champion.
Anand was beaten by Julka Tojirzhanova and Temur Igonin. Igonin was the gold medal winner in the Asian youth championship for children under 8, organized in China in 2010, and the youth leagues of Uzbekistan, among the under 10 and 12.
Anand, born in Madras, India, in 1969, became the first chess champion in 2000, beating the Russian, Alexei Shirov, and regained the title in 2008, beating another Russian, Vladimir Kramnik, and in 2010, beating the Bulgarian, Topalov Valselin.
Bobby Fischer was found… in Uzbekistan.
Nice.
Anand will surely lose in the next WC,though I hope he can pull off a miracle win there.
Ha! Ha! Ha! I am sure they had help from a computer some how. Don’t call them cheats they are just kidding!!!
Bobby Fischer was a real genius. Consider that today there are engines and strong computer, at top levels are like robots. I still prefer old good times. Bobby Fischer was alone. These little prodigies have all support from masters around the world and engines. You really can’t make a paragon.
Don’t count Anand out just yet. He has more match experience than any of the realistic contenders.
Prediction: Anand over Aronian by one point.
The 10 year old Temur Igonin is a FIDE master rated 1869. He became an FM thanks to his performance at Asian Youth U10 tournament last year. Hulkar Tokhirjanova
(many alternative spellings seem to exist for her) is rated 2142, is 20 years old and the 5th strongest female in her country (and was in their olympiad team).
Loss to these ‘kids’ in a simul against 20 strong players is no reason to write anyone off.
