10 second chess tactic Chess tactic, Puzzle Solving White to move. Can you find the most precise continuation in 10 seconds or less?Source: ChessToday.net Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Queen E8.
I mean what’s he going to do, take it?
About 10 seconds lead me to see Qe8
Rh3 mate. 1 second.
Of course, it takes me more than 10 seconds to be sure Qe8 is good.
1. Qe8 and what can black do to parry both threats of 2. Qe6, 2. Qf7? The black queen is tied to the h3/c8 diagonal to prevent Rh3 mate.
Qe8 Qxe8 (Rh3 mate) Black will lose the R at f7
Rh3 fails because of Qxh3
For this reason I think 1.Qe8 could be a correct move in 10 seconds.
1. Qe8
1.Qe8 should win.
More full anaysis:
1. Qe8 Qf5 (only move I see)
2. Rh3 Qh3
3. Qf7 and the mating threats can’t be parried.
I prefer Qe8 – it looks stronger than Rh3 mate – 2 seconds
rh3, Qxh3 0.001 sec
Qe8 perhaps?
qe8
Qe8 in about 20 sec. I need to get the black queen from protecting h3.
1.Qe8! is better
Rh3 does not work due to
1. Rh3 Qxh3
Better may be
1. Qe8 Qf5
2. Rh3+ Qxh3
3. Qxf7
threatening mate with
4. Qg7+ Kh5
5. Qxh7++
Could not find a defence for this
Qe8
Rh3?
Qxh3
oh Susan, It put pressure on my nerve when U tell to solve in less than 10 seconds. It takes more than normal time to solve that position!!lol..n e ways I solved it in less than 10 seconds. nice puzzle, thanks…like to see more n more mate in 6!
i’d play Qe8 and use the other 9 seconds to finish the game. hopefully, my opponent would just resign
